This is the base kit for your modular van conversion - the Crux system, designed to fit the VW Crafter ‘07-’16 & Mercedes Sprinter ‘06- MWB variant.
Concept
The basic concept of Crux is to create a standardised grid which can fit a range of products in multiple configurations.
We use L-Track (an aircraft cargo rail), which has mounting locations every 1” to create a rail system on the van floor, sides and roof which all our products are designed to locate onto. This “grid” can then be designed to fit different vans, meaning you can take any of our products from one van to another.
Installation
Our Crux system has been designed and engineered over many months, with hours of CAD work and lots of head scratching. The result of this means that installation time is heavily reduced as we have done the hard graft, meaning the full system can be fitted by a competent DIY installer in around 50 hours.
With the Crux system installed, simply pick and choose what products you want to fit and where. All products fit the L-Track cargo rails that come with Crux, with most fitments requiring just 2 or 4 fixings.
Crux Products
Our Crux range of products are for life. When your van bites the dust, or you feel it's upgrade time, don't be put off by starting a new conversion from scratch. Take our products with you! Our core products have been designed with longevity in mind, so will fit any van which has Crux fitted. On occasion, a few specific mounting brackets or end trims may be required to ensure a seamless fit, but we’ve done our best from the start to standardise our products for maximum compatibility. If we don't have a Crux kit for your van yet, please get in touch. It may be on our radar or it may be something you could help us develop!
Options
No two Crux conversions are the same, thanks to the range of options that can be spec’d. We offer an accent powder coat colour on all our products. We have various panel finishes available, a number of wall lining options and can deck the floor out with a choice of vinyl.
But that's just the start - you can mix and match the spec with what you want where. Do you want the rear of the van different to the front or the wall lining to change half way up? Perhaps contrasting central roof panels or anodised black L-Track? It's your van and there are no rules!
This kit contains everything you need to take your panel van and fit it out ready to take our range of Crux products.
The Base "DIY" Kit
- Crux Framework - a powder coated steel framework in Crux Grey that is designed & engineered to fit specifically the VW Crafter ‘07-’16 & Mercedes Sprinter ‘06- LWB, High Roof variant.
- L-Track - aircraft cargo rails that are manufactured to fit to the crux framework on the floor, sides and roof of the van. Cut and drilled specifically to match our crux framework, with a brushed bare aluminium finish.
- Side and Roof Panels - 6mm plywood panels, including side window surrounds, that come lined in automotive carpet (can be upgraded with various finishes).
- Side Door Panels - 6mm plywood panels that are inset into the side door, including side window surround and come lined with various options - Sliding Door Window Surround
- Rear Door Panels - 6mm plywood panels that are inset into the rear doors and come lined with various options - Inset Door Panels - Rear
- Floor Panels - 18mm XPS/Plywood sandwich insulated floor panels.
- Floor Lining - Altro vinyl floor covering to be fitted to existing floor (options available).
- Fixing Kit - all the fixing and fasteners to install your kit.
The base kit (above) contains the basic parts to create a crux modular setup in the back of your van. Ideal for those who are converting there van but want the flexibiltiy to install there own electrical setup etc. The full kit (below) is the option to go for if you want the crux modular setup with minimal effort. Just leave it up to us to provide everything you need, just choose your finishes.
The Full Kit (also includes . . . )
- Sound Deadening - Thermoliner sound deadening, foil backed self adhesive foam to be applied to the internal surface of all exterior bodywork in the sides, roof and floor.
- Insulation - Thermafleece Cosywool, a natural, breathable sheeps wool insulation.
- Trim Kit - covers, trims and linings to achieve a professional fit and finish (options available).
- Bulkhead Surround - creates a neat transition between the cab and the rear of the van (options available) - Bulkhead Surround
- Roof Vents - Option of either/or 1x MaxxFan Deluxe roof vent with fan in the front and 1x MaxxFan Skymaxx roof vent in the rear.
- Lighting - 6x 12v touch operated spotlights mounted into the ceiling panels.
- Electrical Harness – Integrated wiring harness to fit direct to the van, with 4x USB-A/USB-C & 12V Power outlets, main 12V light switch, Blue Sea 12V 12-Way Fuse Box and pre-built looms to supply power to 12V LED Lighting, 12V Fridge, 12V Water pump, 12V Diesel Heater and MaxxFann roof vent.
- Power – Option 1 - Bluetti AC200MAX Expandable Power Station. A 2,048 W/h LiFePO4 Battery combined with a 2,200W invertor, built into one modular unit that plugs into our electrical harness. Can be charged with 3-pin mains power, solar power or 12V whilst driving. Has a number of outlets including 240V and wireless charging and re-charges van battery. Option 2 - Clayton Power LPS II. The LPS II 2500 has a built-in: 1 kWh Lithium-Ion Battery, 230 V Sine Wave Inverter, Booster (Charging from alternator), 400W MPPT Charge Controller (charging from solar panels), Intelligent charger (charging from mains), relays etc. Various sizes available.
- Arch Boxes - rear wheel arch boxes to match the style of the crux product range (options available).
Please note: no Units, Lockers, Bunks, Deck or any other products not listed above come with this kit.
Options / Upgrades
- Blinds - upgrade the side window surrounds to include integrated blackout blinds.
- Bulkhead Surround - choose from one of our bulkhead surround options, with optional storage in the base and and options to fit our Cab Headliner Shelf - Bulkhead Surround & Cab Headliner Shelf
- Step Extension Storage Box - maximise floor space above the side door step with an integrated storage hole underneath - Step Extension Storage Box
- Off-Grid – Solar Panel Kit (175w Rigid Victron Solar Panel)
- Electrical Add-Ons – looms to add 240V sockets, additional 12V sockets.
- Heating - Webasto AirTop 2000 STC 12V|2.2Kw Single Outlet or Eberspacher Airtronic S3 D2L 12v|2.2Kw Single Outlet (internal or external fitment).
- Lighting - 12v LED strip lighting to run full length along the upper corners.
- L-Track - Additional L-Track that can be fitted along the upper corners.
- Roof Vent - Upgrade to a second MaxxFan Deluxe roof vent in the rear or downgrade to a single roof vent.
The kit is provided as component parts and has been designed for a competent DIY installer to install the DIY Kit in around 30-40 hours and the Full Kit in around 70-80 hours.
NEW for 2022 - We are now offering a full installation service. Leave your van with us for a couple of weeks at our Hampshire workshop and we'll kit it out for you ready to drive away!
We are also interested to hear from conversion companies who may be interested in offering a fitting service for our kits throughout the country.

- Accent powder coat colour - Crux Grey, Cyan Blue, Lime Green, Flame Orange or Bright Red
- Floor vinyl - dark or light grey chequer plate vinyl, Altro Walkway 20 anti-slip flooring (multiple colour options), Hexagrip textured phenolic Plywood (new floor).
- Panel Lining - Easyliner automotive carpet, in Anthracite or Silver (comes standard), Linoso Tweed lining (various colour options, one of our Vinyl flooring options, Bamboo plywood or Birch plywood. Various combinations available with different panel finish costs.
- L-Track - Brushed bare metal finish (standard) or anodised black.

Lead Time
- Whilst we hold some component parts in stock, all kits are made to order, due to the various options available and we will be in touch shortly after you have placed your order to give an estimated time frame and discuss your options. Typically, a lead time of 8 weeks can be expected, but this can and does vary a little, so bear this in mind when planning your build schedule.
Payment
- An initial deposit of 15% is required for the Crux base kit. Once received, we will get in touch to finalise the options you want and any upgrades you may require, along with an estimated completion date. A further payment of 35% will be required before manufacturing commences and the remaining balance will be due in full, prior to the kit being shipped / collected.
Shipping
- Due to the large nature of many of the parts in the kit, the order needs to be shipped on a large pallet at the customer's expense. Alternatively, collection from our workshop can be arranged and we welcome you to come and see what we do. If you're local, we may even drop it off for you.
