Our Sliding Door Window Surround kit is made up of multiple CNC profiled plywood & aluminium parts which can be lined in a variety of materials to match (or contrast with) the rest of your conversion. Fitted within the recesses of the sliding door, the window surround panel mounts to our specially designed aluminium brackets, allowing a flush fit with the inner surface of the sliding door whilst maintaining a cavity to the outer skin.
The window surround panel is machined from 6mm plywood and is supplied with a large cutout matching the window profile, featuring a return to seamlessly fit against the window when lined. This kit maximises the window aperture and does not come with any blind or curtain. We have also designed in a return that fits by the door handle, to give a neat fit and prevent any views into the cavity.
The kit is fitted to the door using the six aluminium brackets provided, which are riveted to the metalwork of the van. Positioning of these brackets is made easy with the use our instructions and special alignment tool. The finished surround can easily be fitted to the six brackets using the stainless bolts and chimney nuts, with built in adjustment to perfect the alignment.
The kit can be supplied as a fully lined kit (in Anthracite or Silver automotive carpet) or as a DIY kit, on a pre-cut 6mm plywood panel.
The DIY kit will come supplied flat packed and requires assembly of the surround onto the plywood panel, using the instructions provided. The aluminium corner sections will be supplied flat and will need bending to match the corner profiles. This is easily done by forming with your thumbs using mild pressure, or can be pressed over a round object to achieve a curve.
Please note; if purchasing a DIY kit, we strongly recommend using a good quality, 4-way stretch Automotive carpet, (such as Easyliner automotive carpet) when lining due to the tight corners and depth of return.
Can be fitted to any conversion, not just one of ours. We have now tested these on sliding windows and can confirm they will not work without a small modificaion on the return to clear the sliding window rails/handle, so these are only intended to fit fixed glass windows.
